North America is well-represented on the new single from Toronto's Kenny Glasgow including remix support from fellow Canadians James Teej and My Favorite Robot bosses Jared and Voytek.
Add a solid across-the-pond contribution from Moodmusic's Sasse and the single takes on the best elements of both continents' contribution to techno with some remixes more robust than others.

Glasgow's original, owing little in actual form to Underground Resistance's seminal track of the same name, does at least have spiritual connections to that era of Detroit techno. Sparse beats clatter against disjointed saw tooth wave melodies giving the affair a primitive, brutish feel that draws some inspiration from the Rust Belt way of life. It's not the greatest track ever produced but the attention to detail evokes a pleasant retro vibe that is not entirely unwelcome.

Sasse does little to mess with and even leaves the wonky melodies intact. His great contribution here is a deep groove that has become his trademark, enough to make this version seem more like a dub than a remix.

The same holds true for James Teej, a rising star who has a debut album on Rekids due this spring. Disappointingly, he seems to build his entire groove around only the most striking original elements and fails to create any more than a carefree dance floor lilt that adds little to the character of this release.

The true standout mix on Glasgow's new EP belongs to My Favorite Robot (Jared and Voytek). The pair deconstructs the original into many small pieces and then injects many of their own ideas into the remix. The results are arresting shades of drugged out somnambulism similar to a trip to the dentist's chair and his laughing gas.
