Snowbombing Festival, Austria Mythical. Musical. Without Equal.
This strapline for the Snowbombing Festival in Austria may be straight out of a PR handbook, but this decade old gathering in Mayrhofen, Austria is deserving of the hype.

Taking place in the week of 5th-10th April 2010, this unique festival combines a diverse selection of noteworthy 'Dons' in distinct genres with a holiday on some stunning Alpine slopes.

This year's edition sees headliners in the form of en vogue rockers like The Friendly Fires, The Editors, The Doves and The Enemy, whilst De La Soul's inclusion immediately grabs the attention, more so certainly than the big dance brands of 2ManyDJs and Fatboy Slim.

Yet, when you dig into the rest of the artists on show, it's clear no musical taste or fetish is left unattended as an enormous wealth of talent assembles in what must be one of the most musically communal and inclusive festivals; there are plenty of breaks, dubs, electroism and drum 'n' bass in the form of Andy C, Scratch Perverts, Brodinski, DJ Yoda, Krafty Kuts, Benga and the 'cooler than ice cold' Skream; house and techno are well represented too in the shape of James Zabiela, Nic Fanciulli, Slam, Justin Robertson, Jamie Jones, Jimmy Van M and Clive Henry; and finally, there are plenty of other exciting acts such as Greg Wilson, Fake Blood, Evil Nine and Streetlife DJs.

The best part about Snowbombing though are the venues; a forest clearing where everyone gets wrapped up and huddled together to see the big names, an 'arctic disco' igloo that doubles as a club with several rooms, a huge street party that has become Austria's biggest fancy dress party, a spectacular outdoor mountain stage, a small club in the form of a traditional wooden sauna style venue, a converted underground tennis club now called 'The Racket Club' and almost 'boringly' a fully fitted, super modern arena with boshing sound and fancy lights.

A unique and non-typical affair for those with an open mind, Snowbombing is about the best fun you can have with your clothes on..........lots of them in fact!
