Best known for her output on Jazzanova's famed Sonar Kollektiv imprint, Berlin native Eva Be delivers an astutely crafted 3 track EP here with 'New Crack', the first track of the year to be released on Andre Lodemann's Best Works Records.

Be lists her influences as dub, reggae, electro and house' and it shows - 'New Crack' is a track with a widely appealing sound, fraught with melodic synth stabs, pads and claps, an old school dimension and a vocal which sounds like it was lifted straight from a Guy Ritchie movie. Funky, squelchy and not too heavy, 'New Crack' is deep house without the monotonous undertone which seems to have plagued the genre of late.

Dutchman Darko Esser, riding high on the success of his recent LP, 'Balans' on his own Wolfskuil imprint, delivers a luscious, deep, deep twist on the track courtesy of his 'Fresh Rock' remix. The originals chaotic yet charming synths are more understated in tone here, paving the way for a pitched down, less manic, more ambient, atmospheric effort which makes for a pleasant contrast to the original.

Aforementioned label boss Andre Lodemann is on hand to wrap up the package - a task he completes with aplomb. His take on Be's little known 'She Walks Alone' is classy house music with a lounge bar vibe of the type that is sure to have plenty of heads nodding at the upcoming Miami WMC.

Guest vocalist Pegah Ferydoni's adds a sultry, sexy dimension to the track via her 'Feels so right, feels so wrong' vocal. The 'New Crack' EP is a sophisticated slice of house music with a producer we'll be sure to keep an eye and ear out for. With productions of this quality, who's to say Berlin won't have a new Queen of house music soon?
