Damien Almira, aka Timid Boy has been wowing these hallowed Internet pages of ours for some time now. His latest reworking is of Strict Border's 'Sugar Foot', and once again the Frenchman comes up trumps, providing the standout moment on what is an altogether fantastic release on New York's Inmotion imprint.
The Toronto based duo naturally offer up the original first, whereby a tribal tech house beat is finely complemented by a barrage of piano keys and skipping beats that are tailor made for a big sound system. A promising start of things to come.
The aforementioned Timid Boy is next up. His remix, clocking in, just like the original at nearly nine minutes long, is more laid back yet don't think for one second it's any less memorable.
Mr. Almira injects the original with a killer vocal and a huge drop at the half way mark that's sure to prompt many a 'hands in air' moment. Funky, percussive and with bass aplenty, expect Timid Boy's mix to proverbially 'rock' the dance floor towards the end of this summer.
Culminating the EP is up and coming Italian UES, a man whose productions have been winning him plaudits aplenty in 2010 from a host of the scenes big names. His mix is the most jacking of the three, with a spooky atmosphere enhanced by the presence of some broody percussion and a devilish laugh which crops up throughout.
The 'Sugar Foot' EP is an all round fine effort from a label we'd perhaps do well to keep an eye on.
