Plaid Versus Red Snapper @ Koko London, Sat Nov 20thWhen WARP Records signed 'The Black Dog' in 1991 it was little imagined 2 of its members would later form 'Plaid', a duo which became seminally identifiable to the label and its iconic 20 year history. In fact to this music writer if one act truly defines WARP Records, it probably is 'Plaid'.

Though, their music is embedded deeply into the electronic conscience and psyche, recent experimentations have included a tour with London's Southbank Gamelan Players, where they interweaved laptop generated electronic pieces with the mellow, hypnotic and gentle beats of an Indonesian Gamelan. A forthcoming album 'Scintilli' will preview at this show and is an opportunity to catch new material for the first time.

Originally evolving from drum and bass and an acid jazz influenced angle, previous WARP cohorts and recently reformed Lo Recordings 'Red Snapper' will go back to back with Plaid in performance. The group who reformed in 2007 showcased tracks on recent album 'A Pale Blue Dot' which fused electronic synth based melodies, funk and acid jazz. Their profile and return was increased when artists like Sasha endorsed tracks over Twitter and Giles Peterson said that it was good to see their work 'still sounded good'.

Cornwall's acid lover, Luke Vibert, signed to both Warp and Ninja and who rejects Facebook, MySpace and other social networks provides support.

It doesn't end there though, Ninja Tunes latest signing San Francisco based 'Eskmo' an avant garde electronic producer whose work hints influence of Royksopp, Sigur Ros and Fever-Ray and is behind the low slung melodically structured track 'Cloudlight' that achieved over a quarter of a million hits on youtube will also perform alongside 'Stateless' and 'Anchorsong'. At £15 a ticket this is one gig not to be missed.

Gig goers can also expect on-site art work to be created by Scrawl Collective member Will Barras, which will be signed by the bands and auctioned for MacMillan Cancer Support.
