Pics by Giona StringaArguably one of Ibiza 2010's least expected success stories, Come Together returns to Space this season for another summer of live shows, Dj sets and all round diverse sounds.
The only night you're as likely to witness an electro superstar as you are a Berghain resident, a four-piece guitar act, a dubstep artist or an RnB chart topper, while Come Together's true identity is debatable, the punters seemed to care little last term, making their way in droves to the Playa den Bossa nightspot every Thursday to catch the likes of Faithless, Tinie Tempah, Kelis and Adam Beyer in action.
One act whose appearance was particularly emphatic was Leftfield, the British dance stadium act the icing on the Come Together cake in 2010. Praise for the night was omnipresent amongst the Djs too; the likes of the enigmatic Dr. Lektroluv likened his appearance as "like coming home", while sometime Cocoon fixture Karotte proclaimed it his "best Ibiza gig of 2010".
With the genre-hopping kitchen sink approach serving them so well last season, Come Together's promoters have adopted an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach this time around, I Voice heard through the grapevine that early guests have already been confirmed in the form of Magnetic Man, Pendulum Live, Mark Ronson and - most remarkably of all - 80's rap pioneers De La Soul. Pendulum's El Hornet, has incidentally, been confirmed as the resident Dj for the summer.
Ran again this season by Safehouse (the same management company behind Carl Cox's ultra successful 'Revolution' parties), the team has taken a more planned approach to this year's "mini-festivals", while simultaneously promising to pull out even more unrivalled good times now they've gained a foothold amongst the island's club night elite.
Safehouse owner Lynn Cosgrave emphasised the point, providing us with some vintage pre-season spiel recently; "We were rushing around (last year), yet we still managed to pull it out of the bag. This year however, I expect us to be bigger, better, bolder and more impressive. Va va voom!"
So there you have it - the only thing that has changed in fact, is that CT has moved from Thursday's to Friday's this term. Otherwise, it's business as well, unusual, (or at least, unconventional) at Come Together this season. Like all club nights in Ibiza, time will be the true test of this particular night's credentials. Positive early signs however, hint at a very successful second stint indeed.
