Making the phrase 'quality, not quantity' his own, Grammy award-winning Roger Sanchez steps out this summer to perform at a handful of Ibiza and Greece based events as part of his Release Yourself 'Flashing Lights' European tour. The journey begins at one of the world's biggest and best clubs; Space Ibiza, on June Monday 13th when the event opens on the same night as Sven Väth's Cocoon at Amnesia.
However, there's no fear of competition in the Sanchez camp. The long running Release Yourself was established way back in the '90s. With Roger's passion for championing only the best music, and his refusal to fit the template of playing one genre of music, the events were quick to gain notoriety.
In 2009 moved to Amnesia to take over a bigger room to satisfy his growing fan base. Now a globally recognised brand, Release Yourself incorporates Roger's Maxima FM radio show (celebrating its 500th episode this May), a monthly residency at Marquee in Las Vegas, podcasts and a compilation series of which the 11th edition will be released this summer.
2011 undoubtedly holds big things for both Roger and Release Yourself and a move to Space, and its 5,000 capacity, is a wise choice for his four upcoming Ibiza-based dates.
To make sure the new home of Release Yourself is well and truly christened, Roger has snared Sidney Samson, the man responsible for 2009's chart-smasher 'Riverside' as support. Also joining the team on Space's world-famous Terrace are electro quartet Far East Movement (a favourite of Lady Gaga and N*E*R*D's Pharrell). Toolroom Record's Mark Knight, 'Changes' man Chris Lake and house star Kaskade also make the list. Many other artists joining Roger are still yet to be announced.
Roger himself will be playing an exclusive classic house set which will showcase the highlights from his 25 years worth of record collecting. Word has it, that his recent set at Southport Weekender gave a taste of what's to come in both Ibiza and at three events in Mykonos Greece (dates yet to be announced). Roger will also play a special debut show at Space's Café Ole on Sunday 17th September, more dates at Miami's Mansion, London's Ministry of Sound (again, yet to be announced) and all while holding down his monthly Las Vegas residency. That, is one heck of schedule; however, Roger is quietly confident all will run smoothly. With over 25 years experience in the business, wouldn't you be too?
