Autumn Term Hots Up in Birmingham…Bristol might have In: vision, Manchester might have the Warehouse Project, but Birmingham has The Rainbow. It’s a multi-roomed hub that incorporates a gritty Cellar, raw, brick exposed and sun kissed courtyard, main room Warehouse space, lush gardens and often includes the closing of the local street to allow for more sprawling extras like dancers, competitions, food stalls and more. Oh, there’s also The Arena, too, a new space which opened earlier this year and proved a hit with everyone from punters to DJs. More events are allegedly planned for the place in early 2013.

Making best use of all these great rave spaces are Birmingham promotions Face with many other brands including Cream throughout the next couple of months. It all kicks off with the annual Showcase event during the last weekend of September and will see Burnski and Jordan Peak mix it up in their inimitable tech house way.

The week after, promising young house label Illusion records take over with Cera Alba and label boss Tom Craven before face celebrate another birthday in style with controversial HotFlush boss Scuba playing alongside bass darling Joy Orbison and Circo Loco regulars Tanzmann and Squillace: Surely one of the best line-ups the city has seen all year?

As well as a regular slew of solid weekly events, there are many big sessions between now and the end of the year. Namely a Halloween spectacular that will see the street closed off and turned into a Haunted House. There will also be fairground rides and a Silent Noize Disco as well as Zombie Prom and much more themed madness across the sprawling spaces all night long with sounds coming from Swamp 81 boss and dub pioneer Loefah, classic house and techno man Argy and the hot duo of Berkson & what.

One regular guest that pops by this city is Annie Mac with her Annie Mac Presents showcases. The next will be on 17th November and the hottest names you need to know are Huxley and Boddika who place for Face. The former has had an annus mirablilis with his garage referencing big house sounds on Hypercolour, whilst the latter is still one of the underground’s finest inventors, this year producing some killer tracks alongside Joy O that have been destroying ‘floors everywhere.

There is even something for hardcore deebee fans on November 30th when the hallowed RAM Records take over and bring Andy C, Loadstar, Calyx & TeeBee and more with them to provide the fluid rhythms and earth shaking bass. Finally, to keep your appetite whetted, there will be another huge Cream blow-out on December the 1st with an as yet unannounced selection of guests. Whoever is in town, though, you can be assured of a sensational party at The Rainbow, because it is now a well-honed, well appointed space used to throwing top class parties.
