Two become one to create Superhero, a duo comprised Italian producers Leon and Toky. Having made their debut with the brilliant Drugs & Choices, the twosome keep the indie-esque/melancholy vibes rolling for their New York EP on Nic Fanciulli's ever-reliable Saved Records.

Take Darkness Of Change for instance. Although it's based around a rather upbeat instrumental - full of claps, shuffling breaks and a dainty little bassline that lets out a jovial growl throughout – it features quite an emotive vocal and a sultry breakdown. The attention to detail on the track is great, there's plenty going on in the background, subtle chimes and a persistant melody too. Very nice.

The title track though, is the one that caught my ear most of all. The funked up bassline combines with street sounds and a brilliantly simple vocal snippet as the beats clap and more funky elements join the fray, seventies style sci-fi bleeps leading into a short, amusing breakdown before continuing at a similar pace as before building to a longer, tension-filled breakdown.

Saved boss Fanciulli takes on remix duties, flipping New York into a dirty rolling tech number, heavy and full of bounce – a sure dancefloor smash actually. Nic cleverly adds several short moments of respite from the relentless groove before continuing to roll out the funkiness.
