SSOH was established by Claude Monnet in 1995. Designed as a medium for the label owner to showcase the music he loves, it’s since become a byword for sophisticated, sensual and off-kilter house music in its various guises, with everything from house to techno to disco finding favour over the years.
SSOH then, is an imprint that boasts all the eclectic hallmarks of its home city, Paris. Its lengthy roster reads like a ‘who’s who’ of France’s electronic music scene too, with characters as diverse as Martin Solveig, DJ Gregory, Rodiguez Jr, Art of Tones and Franck Roger shaping up alongside fledgling artists such as Timothee Milton and Francesco Tarantini.
As well as placing a value of diversity, Monnet is also a shrewd A & R man - hence the addition of the latter two artists to the roster. The future for SSOH is evidently in safe hands then, with the next few releases (not least Blueday’s Stereo’s “Just Fly”), every bit as colourful and discerning to what’s arrived before.
And having spent the best part of two decades in the game, it’s safe to assume that SSOH’s penchant for longevity is far from finished yet.
