Gomma Records... In The GrooveFor the moment, Munich imprint Gomma seems to be one of a handful of widely distributed independent labels that is making some sort of positive impact in popular culture.

They possess an unmistakable aesthetic that informs not only the label’s musical signings but also the cover art. It’s no wonder then that the label, founded by the cleverly named Telonius and Munk, is also a graphic design collective.

The label has also been home to hip artists such WhoMadeWho and New York City’s Phenomenal Handclap often drawing comparisons to DFA in terms of sound and objective. In addition, the label also small runs of t-shirts, publishes a poster zine called Amore, and curates a gallery night called MondoGomma Pictureshows.

The label has also helped to define a new model of success in the age of digital music by combining so many complementary disciplines into a new model of what a label should be without ever skimping on the music in the process.
