One of New York's finest young producers, M A N I K has been rolling out electronic music of varying styles for a number of years now.

Releasing tracks via several high-profile labels including Hot Creations and Culprit, it's on Ovum where he has brought the heat on a number of occasions and it's with Josh Wink's label that he returns with this new EP, entitled House Cut 1.

As you might expect from the title, this is an EP that works around the house skeleton and fleshes it out in various ways.

'Nothing Better' for instance is a real analogue workout – inflected with acid and a looming, chunky bassline.

The 4x4 careers forwards with purpose while M A N I K throws in several bleepy, melodic elements to keep things interesting throughout.

The title track flips the script with a lighter, almost jovial vibe to it. The bassline in particular gives off a positive bounce, while the percussion remains quite subtle giving the synth line prominence.

Finally 'Finch' demonstrates M A N I K's ability to traverse a variety of styles effortlessly, bringing together a plethora of bleeps and claps that he somehow manages to throw together without the track sounding overly busy.
