Of course, if you've ever had the privilege of catching the label owner in action, then you'll be all too aware of her inkling for obscure, house-leaning jams and intricate dancefloor numbers. It's an approach that's neatly mirrored in her handling of the label, where she plays the A&R role with a similar sort of distinction.
The label's latest trick, however, sees Mary turn out as one half of The Jaydes, a recently formed live act consisting of both herself and her good friend and studio partner, Attan.
''Step on Light'' is the release in question. The debut release by the duo, it's a one-track, vinyl-only EP that might well be light on content - but is still brimming with dexterous class nonetheless.
Indeed, ''Step on Light'' is a track that almost immediately makes its intentions known, with its melodic groove matched only by its simmering, menacing snares.
Much like the press release alludes to, it keeps the listener's attention perked throughout, with its delicate pads and its whirling, ominous synth stabs helping to stir up a listen that's every bit as frenzied as it is nuanced.
In short, it's timeless, sumptuous stuff – and hopefully, a fitting indication of much more to come.
