Prudo and Lorenzo Bartoletti’s Alfa Romero Recordings is a label revered for its fresh approach to electronic music. Refreshing things up for 2015, the duo are on hand for the imprint’s first release of the year themselves, launching the next cycle of six releases with an impressive track of their own. Whilst the label’s first ever six releases were all to do with cars, driving and road trips, they now move onto a circus theme for releases 007 through to 012.
“Fake Lovers” has all the drama and tension of a true curtain raiser. Its medium pace allows the deep, wobbling bassline to get under your skin as the swirling synths and pulsating beats create a tense and suspenseful atmosphere. The track evolves with a subtly mounting momentum, building towards a cathartic climax, which spills over into a wave of textured, and colouful deep house. The impassioned vocals add a breezier element, which wafts over the top as a slight respite against the weight of the track. This is Alfa Romero at their hypnotic best.
On the flip, Budapest based producer Snilloc locks into a tightly woven groove for his head-spanning remix. Simplicity is high in stock here as the producer wraps a rolling bassline around muscly drums and oscillating FXs. Fully utilizing the weight of the original’s bottom end, the remix surges forward with a quicker and frenetic top end that fires with rapid-fire sonics. A pure peak-time destroyer, the remix once again showcases Alfa Romero’s desire to take their music into realms anew. Lets help the next five releases to join the circus sound as good as this!
