Noir steps into Hot Since 82’s manor for a cameo performance. Night Walkers is the title track. Before listening, I thought this might be a nice relaxing backtracking track for an evening stroll, hence the name. Off I wandered, with the track playing in my headphones. Turns out I was wrong - it’s more of a full throttle marcher, aimed at the clubber rather than the stroller. My quaint jaunt turned into a fist pumping sprint, bouncing off walls to the no-nonsense bass and driving rhythms. And that wriggly little synth glimmer that runs throughout is hooky as hell - the kind of noise that stays with you. I was unable to sleep for days.
Morning Shadows is what you’ll eventually see if you overdose on the first track. It’s a smooth carousel of arpeggios and gyrating synths. With the Italo disco overtones of Giorgio Moroder coupled with Noir’s trademark dance floor sensibilities, this makes for an impressive release.
Highly recommended - especially for insomniacs.
