Another episode of Prague’s quickly establishing event Chillin is around the corner. We had the opportunity to ask few questions the headliner, Patryk Molinari.
Tell us how you first got into electronic music.
I remember that Fatboy Slim`s “You`ve come along way, baby“ in 1998 brought me to electronic music. I was fascinated by the thing he sampled lots of old music and that he has his very own and unique style. Till today he is one of my biggest inspirations and a musician I admire a lot!
How do you balance your daily life with your musical one?
I still have a little job - just for 12h/week. So I have a regular daily routine for 2-3 days a week; I´m very happy about this because this way I have just enough time to devote to my musical life. The other days I`m searching for new music, samples for my productions, working on my own music and do a lot sport like cycling or jogging.
Do you remember the moment when you got your first musical breakthrough?
Yes of course! I guess it was in 2010, when I released “Give Me“ on Greelpound. The track entered the BeatPort Deep House Chart after 2-3 days and big artists like Solomun charted it in there fav´s of the months. Till today it is the most famous track I did but not the best, I guess :D
What music did you listen to before you got into house music?
I listened to a lot of Big Beat artists like The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim or The Crystal Method. Later I discovered more Trip Hop and Downbeat artists like Kruder & Dorfmeister, The Avalanches, Zero 7 and Air…and all these musicians are still an inspiration for me.
What are your top 3 tracks at the moment?
Who is your musical influence?
Oh that could be a long list. But I´m most influenced by artists like The Avalanches, Fatboy Slim, Kruder & Dorfmeister, DJ Gregory (aka Point G), Javier Carballo, Barem, Federico Molinari, Sebo K, Julien Jabre, Dimtri From Paris, Michael Melchner, Dyed Soundorom, Apollonia and many many more…
