This Italian duo needs no introduction. With releases gracing the likes of Hot Creations, 8bit and Snatch Recordings, gaining support from heavyweight’s such as Marco Carola, Jamie Jones and Paco Osuna for years, Paul C and Paolo Martini are tech house titans and their new release on Moon Harbour does not disappoint. The whole EP has got the duo written all over it, heavy percussion, rolling basslines, big builds and diverse samples with each track a hit in its own way.
Track one, rightfully titled ‘Big Gun’, is a big room tech house anthem, darker than previous releases from the duo. This bulky track kicks off straight away with a thundering, progressive bassline, with crashing synth chords stabbing through and delayed vocals layered on top. The track grabs your attention and captivates you from the start, not to mention the synth melodies on the drop towards the end.
The second track ‘Rumba Dumba’ is a choppy, fast, driving percussive track with Paul C and Paolo Martini’s signature rolling claps, fat sub bass and hats and toms tumbling over each other. Horns blow out in the break adding to the build-up and crescendo of this meaty track. Expect to hear this on dancefloors all over the world.
Lastly, ‘Combo’ is a little different, slightly more downbeat and Balearic, with warm, soulful chords strewn out over grooving basslines. As the track progresses, female vocals come into play as the track gets heavier. Yet, it never looses its groove. All in all, another mighty release from the duo!
