Ciszak is a Brazilian DJ/Producer who in a short while in the industry has already made a lasting impact. With releases already on Dirtybird, Material and Cajual already under his belt, he is a regular mainstay at the top of the Tech-House Beatport Charts. Now opening up with the first track on the new Dirtybird compilation, we sat down to chat with him to talk about his relationship with Claude Vonstroke, the Brazilian culture, and how he creates his unique sound.
I’m really happy to be part of the Dirtybird family...Hi Ciszak, how are you?
Hi! Thanks for having me :)
The new Dirtybird compilation kicks off with a bang with your latest track ‘La Bomba’. What’s your relationship with Claude (Vonstroke) and how did you come to release on Dirtybird?
Yes! Claude is amazing; always trying to help us whenever he can. My first release on Dirtybird was a track called “Hypnose” in 2015. I just sent a demo and he signed it. After that, he started to support a lot of my music and things have taken off from there.
You hail from Brazil. What’s the dance music scene like there?
The dance music scene is growing a lot in Brazil, but the public are still not as “open” for many different kinds of electronic music. Most of them enjoy a lot of the same things, so the producers try to produce always the same thing. But I think things are heading in the right direction and there will be much more amazing Brazilian artists that will be making their mark around the world.
I was (and still am) really into Pink Floyd. They really made me curious about how to express my feelings through music...Have you always been musical? What influenced you to make dance music? Where did it all begin for you?
I learned how to play piano when I was 10. When I was 14, I started to get into electronic music and go to raves and fell in love with it.
I started out as a psytrance DJ (if you can believe that). After I started to DJ a bit more, I realized that I had to try to make my own music and here I am now!
Who would you say are your main influences on your sound?
I would say all kinds of music; I was (and still am) really into Pink Floyd. They really made me curious about how to express my feelings through music.
You originally reached top of the Beatport charts with your releases on 303Lovers and Go Deeva. Do you still work with those guys? How did that come about?
They were my first releases. I had 2 releases on 303Lovers. I haven’t worked with them since, but who knows maybe again sometime in the future.
I’m doing my best to bring more good music that makes people happy. What really matters for me is making people dance & smile in the club...What is your preferred studio set up?
One MacBook, studio monitors, a midi controller and a Moog Sub37.
Will you be touring and gigging more now that you are part of the Dirtybird family?
Yes! I’m really happy to be part of the Dirtybird family and I’m glad to say that I have a tour in Brazil in January and will be heading back to the states to tour starting in February. :)
If you could play in one club what would it be?
Warung in Brazil is one of my top clubs on the list. Would be great!
You’ve also had releases on Cajual, what is your relationship with Green Velvet?
Yes! He is awesome. I have met him several times out and about DJing...Very cool person.
Any releases in the pipeline we should be excited about?
I have another EP coming in early 2017 that I’m really excited about. I can’t really discuss the details just yet, but will be coming out on a large UK label. A few other things are in the works for 2017 too but I can’t really talk about them right now either (hehe).
What does the future have in store for Ciszak?
I’m doing my best to bring more good music that makes people happy. What really matters for me is making people dance and smile in the club.
