Axis Records has long been one of the leaders in releasing forward thinking techno music and this year they celebrate their 25th anniversary. Detroit born label founder, Jeff Mills has recently announced that his next album ‘Planets’ will be appearing in March on the imprint as part of the celebrations.
Currently there is no track list available for the new album but Mills himself has described the LP as an “electronic classical” concept record that is inspired by the nine planets of our solar system. Little has been revealed as to what is in store from the prolific techno producer but his Facebook post announcing the new project was accompanied by a brief teaser video which you can see below.
The announcement of Mills new LP follows the release of “Free Fall Galaxy” last year, the ninth chapter of the Sleeper Wakes Sci-Fi series. Other than the announcement and accompanying video we are being kept in the dark about the forthcoming release, except that this June, Mills will hold a residency at the Barbican in London over four dates and these shows will feature work from the new album and its accompanying ‘Planets Show’.
