Danny Ocean has been a long-standing contributor for Loco Dice’s revered Desolat imprint and this March sees his next offering, the six track ‘Alone’ EP.

Barcelona Based Danny Ocean started his relationship with Desolat back in 2008 with his ‘Lights In My Dark World/ Flashing’ EP. Since then Ocean has gone from strength to strength, with his versatile productions landing him releases on I-Robots Opilec Music and Spanish imprint Sincopat.

Ocean’s refined studio prowess shins through in the 'Alone’ EP, his dubbed out and smooth opener ‘Alone’ is a track that is built upon a subtle drum groove and slowly dissipating chords. ‘Point Break’ then ups the ante, as Ocean hones in on wide-open synths and a more driven percussive swing, only to be further saturated by his trademark soundscapes. ‘He Makes It In Me’ is a relentless electro jam that recruits panning pads and punchy drums with a resonating low end and thrashing snares, all tied together with twisted vocal samples.

The hypnotic lead synth in ‘Inside the Maze’ is thrown forward by the tracks pulsating kicks and stuttering hats, Ocean then delves even deeper with his clever use of glistening pads. ‘Try To Be’ only further documents Danny’s production versatility, where a dub-tinged sub and galactic bleeps fuse to create a mesmeric groove, before ‘Beyond The Unknown’ heads even further into the abyss, propelled along by devious synth stabs and shuffling percussion.

This is another stellar EP from this most measured of artists.
