For many ravers Radio 1 weekend is a gateway to discovering Ibiza. BBC Radio 1 has been visiting the island for over 20 years and these days their annual live broadcasts from the island's venues are always sell outs.

This year, the station celebrates its long lasting relationship with the island with a visit to an old flame under a new name and invites a roll call of some of the biggest names in mainstream dance music to take to the hallowed R1 decks. The entire weekend will be broadcast live and littered with artist interviews. You can follow the action here and for those of you want in on the action, here is our guide to the adventure ahead.

Friday 4 August at Hï IbizaWe can only close our eyes and imagine what will happen at the brand new club from Ushuaïa Entertainment. The club have spent a lot of money overhauling the old Space club and decking it out with state of the art sound and lighting engineering. With ten hours of music running the stage is set for a lesson in big room dance music. Room 1 takes on the traditional Radio 1 Friday night DJs with Annie Mac and Pete Tong, whilst Room 2 encompasses a wider variety, bringing the UK Carnival regular Toddla T and house titans Waze & Odyssey. Radio 1 will be broadcasting live 7pm - 4am.

Make sure you... Wander into the Secret Garden chill out area and take a moment to catch your breath underneath the 'purple tree'.
Don't miss... We are really looking forward to what Kölsch brings to the table, as he is traditionally more underground than the rest of the line up and a Kompakt Label regular.
What do do after: Since this party finishes at 5am on Saturday morning, you will be hard pushed to find a rave, so why not head over the road to Bora Bora beach and watch the sun come up?Full Line Up: Annie Mac, B.Traits, Danny Howard, Eric Prydz, Kölsch, Maya Jane Coles, Mele, Pete Tong, Mistajam, Monki, DJ Target, Tiga, Toddla T, Understate, Waze & Odyssey

Radio 1 at Hï, Platja d'en Bossa, 07817. 7pm-12am. For more info click here.

Saturday 5 August at Café Mambo
This is without doubt the spiritual home of Radio 1 and perhaps the most iconic bar on the sunset strip. This event takes on a slightly more mainstream turn than the previous night but will be fitting for the live UK broadcast from 7pm-12am. We envisage a crowd spilling out onto the rocks at in front of Mambo. The best thing about this? Anyone can wander past and enjoy the music brought by a super strong partnership between the BBC and Mambo Ibiza. There is a special guest also.

Make sure you... Have dinner somewhere around the strip before the party starts. The Golden Buddha at the very end of the strip looks out on to Kanya Beach and serves food on larges white linen beds and couches.
Don't miss... For fans of mainstream house, Duke Dumont back to back with Gorgon City is a hot ticket.
What do do after: If you are wanting to continue the party, why not head to Cream at privilege and catch Annie Mac and B.Traits?

Full Line Up list: Claptone, Danny Howard, Disciples, Duke Dumont & Gorgon City, Friend Within & Kideko, Icarus, Mistajam, Riton, TCTS, Special Guests.

Radio 1 at Cafe Mambo, Carrer Vara de Rey, 40, 07820 Sant Antoni de Portmany, 7pm-12am. For more info click here.

Sunday 6 August at Café MamboThe last night of celebrations is sure to bring slight woe, but also the best party. R1 go live from Cafe Mambo again but this time with the Radio 1 pillar Annie Mac and Hï hotshot Black Coffee. This is perhaps the favourable night musically for us; its great to see a predominantly female line up. This event promises to end the party with a very special live show, so we expect things to go out with a bang on the strip.

Make sure you... Have a drink in Cafe Del Mar a few doors down. If you are not a regular on the island - this is where it all started for the sunset strip and a must to tick off the list.
Don't miss.. Black Coffee. The South African superstar is normally only heard at the gargantuan Hï Ibiza so don't miss a chance to see him open air outside Mambo's.
What do do after: Sunday in Ibiza? Spoilt for choice! Although Joseph Capriati will be playing the Solomon +1 show at Pacha, which means an extended set in another Ibiza landmark.Full Line Up: Annie Mac, B.Traits, Benji B, Black Coffee, Jessie Ware, Jorja Smith.

Radio 1 at Cafe Mambo, Carrer Vara de Rey, 40, 07820 Sant Antoni de Portmany, 7pm-12am. For more info click here.
