Former German trance warriors find solace in balearic sounds

Cologne’s Piet Blank and Jaspa Jones made their name as Blank & Jones during the dawn of the nascent trance scene yet they have since become equally as well known for their well crafted ambient and chill out endeavours; specifically in their much lauded ‘Relax’ compilation series. Beginning in 2003, the ‘Relax’ albums focus on heavenly horizontal sounds. Soothing soundscapes, sun-kissed beach house and chilled out ambience is the order of the day. Now on their 10th edition, this season’s collection is yet another high quality selection of warm acoustic sounds and subtle electronica. Particular highlights are the stunning album opener ‘Glow’, William Orbit's 'Pure Shores,' covered here in blissful fashion with the silky vocals of  Zoe Dee and Blank & Jones own ambient version of ‘Snappiness’. The whole album radiates with classy, sun-dappled chill out; the aural equivalent of a soft warm breeze on your face and a gentle surf lapping at your feet.
