The island's busiest month is now well underway. Radio 1 weekend takes up the bulk of the our rave energy this weekend with a huge kick off to proceedings at Hï Ibiza on Friday and two events at Café Mambo on Saturday and Sunday.
If you're already with us on the island, that's enough to make most people spend the rest of the week hiding in a hammock. But not you, our intrepid raver. Your work is nowhere near done with all that's going on in the week ahead.
Week Two of the August madness has some crucial dates for your rave diary, including an all night long session from DJ Harvey, an Elrow pool party and fresh off the back of his return to his old stomping crowd of Cocoon at Amnesia on Monday, Richie Hawtin will play one of his few Cocoon dates on the island of Formentara.
Monday 7 August - Mercury Rising at Pikes
Line Up: DJ Harvey all night long
DJ Harvey returns to his spiritual home, Pikes for the third year of his Mercury Rising residency. The 'Keith Richards of Dance Music' tends to expel his personality through his gob smacking DJ sets and he's bubbly to say the least. Don't be surprised to be slung from disco to garage to house and plough through corners of the musical globe you never even knew existed. Music aside, Pikes house party vibes reign throughout this classic venue so prepare to have lots of fun.
Tuesday 8 August - Elrow at Ibiza Rocks
Line Up: Paco Osuna, Bontan, Doorly, Toni Varga, Baum
Elrow hit Ibiza Rocks for their first and seemingly only pool party of the season. Taking on a Brazilian theme for this special party, which will take on a rather refreshing twist to their usual Saturdays in Amnesia. This will be a workers favourite so expect it to royally kick off as the party brings its carnival atmosphere to Ibiza's favourite fun house.
Wednesday 9 August - HYTE at Amnesia
Line Up: Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Chris Liebing, Cuartero, DeWalta, Tobi Neumann, YaYa x Caleb Calloway.
Loco Dice invites Carl Cox to celebrate Dice's birthday with him on the terrace in Amnesia. We mentioned this one off back to back earlier this month as it could quite possibly go down as one of the stand out sets of the season. This will be the first time Coxy has played the club since 2014 and one of the limited number of times you'll catch him on the island this year. Chris Liebing is on hand with a special opening set so we expect fireworks in the booth for HYTE!
Thursday 10 August - Cocoon at Tipic, Formentara
Line Up: Richie Hawtin, Cesar Vinzent
Hawtin fans may have felt a little deserted after his ENTER party at Space finished last year, so seeing him back with his old Cocoon family should soften the blow. There will no doubt be some very smug Cocoon faces when Richie returns to the Cocoon mothership at Amnesia on Monday, but for something different, why not check him out at the more intimate Tipic club on Formentera. Cesar Vinzent rounds the bill off.
Friday 11 August
Line Up: James Priestley, Giles Smith
We are enjoying Pikes this week, that's for sure! Three times in one Pick? Hey, if the cap fits.. This time, the legendary UK imprint Secretsundaze takes over the venue and need no better DJs than their expert selector promoter/residents, James Priestley and Giles Smith, to hold things down. We mentioned these guys earlier in the month in our guide to back to back sets to catch in August. After decades of playing together, they make magic in the booth. Discerning house vibes all night long.
Saturday 12 August - Tribal Sessions at Sankeys
Line Up: Stephane Ghenacia, Reda Dare, MR KS
We mentioned Stephane Ghenacia in our guide to resident DJs to look out for at the start of the season, so we are not going to miss a chance to catch him in his stomping ground. Get lost in Sankeys basement and enjoy their rather boisterous sound system.
Sunday 13 August - Acid Sundays at Las Dalias
Line Up: TBA
Yes the line up is still to be announced but Acid Sundays is more about the party than the names on the flyer. It is widely regarded by locals as one of the best parties on the island since it began in 2015. The vibe of the party marries the island's hippy roots with electronic music culture and its new home of Las Dalias in the north of the island couldn't be more of a fitting venue. Surrounded by markets and Spanish streets, the real spirit of Ibiza abounds in this hedonistic club and always finds its way onto the dance floor.
