August is nearly over and as usual for this time of year, the island is positively sizzling with madness. Thunderstorms are rolling. The clubs are barking at the government to clampdown on villa parties. The government is barking at beach clubs for making noise. And you have a staggering amount of top knotch parties to wade through if you want to make the most of another monumental week in Ibiza.
As usual line-ups are steaming hot everywhere. We've had plenty of epic and unusual back to backs already this season. But this week we have one of the picks of the bunch with Loco Dice going head head with Master At Work Kenny Dope at Amnesia.
Abode are one of the success stories of the season and invite Derrick Carter to Sankeys basement. Harvey is seemingly all over the island like a rash but you can catch him in his element at Pikes. Maceo Plex continues to teach Pacha a lesson in techno with Mosaic legend Steve O'Sullivan joining Recondite and Levon Vincent. Basement Jaxx make a long awaited return to the island and Tale Of Us cap off one of their best line-ups of the season with the addition of Nina Kraviz.
Monday 14 August - Mercury Rising at Pikes
Line Up: DJ Harvey
Let's be clear. DJ Harvey in your area is a treat. The disco legend is notoriously difficult to pin down for promoters and goes through his offers with a fine tooth comb. If you're in Ibiza for the rest of this season however you are in luck as he is guesting at various clubs around the island over the coming weeks. To get the best out of him, however you need to visit him in his natural habitat and in Ibiza that can only mean Pikes.
Tuesday 15 August - Mosaic at Pacha
Line Up: Maceo Plex, Recondite, Levon Vincent, Architectural, Steve O'Sullivan
Kudos to Maceo Plex for breaking the mould at Pacha this season with Mosaic. Drawing some of the biggest names in techno to the famously housey dancefloors of Pacha was a risky move but he's pulled it off by booking quite possibly the island's most forward thinking lineups. This particular session is the epitome of his techno-tainted persuasions as Levon Vincent, Recondite and Architectural all step up to the controls. Given his label shares the same name as the party and is responsible for some of the greatest house and techno releases ever, it was inevitable Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan would treat us to a live show. Office favourite alert.
Wednesday 16 August - HYTE at Amnesia
Line Up: Loco Dice b2b Kenny Dope, Benny Rodrigues, Pan-Pot, Matthias Kaden, Mar-T, Cuky.
This hotly anticipated back to back has had the island in suspense since it was announced. The unlikely pairing of Loco Dice and Kenny Dope will step up for what could be the back to back session of the season on the terrace. Will they play hip hop on the terrace? Will Kenny surprise us with a lesson in techno? And will Dice get carried away and sing a Masters at Work classic on the mic at the end? All are valid questions although maybe the last one is a little unlikely. Pan-Pot and Matthias Kaden take on the club room.
Thursday 17 August - Afterlife at Privilege
Line Up: Vista, Tale Of Us, Nina Kraviz, KiNK, Ovend, Chamber, Monoloc, Black Peters
Afterlife make use of the phenomenal space that is Privilege and put the sound system through its paces with their brand of melodic, emo techno. Tale Of Us and Monoloc are on hand amongst others, but the real box tickers here are a live set from KiNK and Nina Kraviz. A big line up for a big club, this could be the highlight of the week as it's not often we catch these guys in Privilege.
Friday 18 August - Glitterbox at Hï
Line Up: Basement Jaxx, Todd Terry, The Shapeshifters, Purple Disco Machine, Session Victim, Yam Who?, Melon Bomb, Andy Baxter
Basement Jaxx in Ibiza is always a surefire party. The duo are very elusive in clubs so consider this Balearic jaunt a real treat for house heads. Todd Terry and The Shapeshifters are also on hand to complete a lineup that will make old school house heads salivate.
Saturday 19 August - Elrow at Amnesia
Line Up: Patrick Topping, Art Department, Max Chapman, Technasia, De La Swing, Toni Varga, Bastian Bux
Elrow is undoubtedly one of the titans on the island and make no mistake you will need titanic energy to last the pace of this frantic carnival style party. We're feeling it this week with the arrival of Art Department and Patrick Topping on an all night shift in Elrow City is just what the island's tech house fans need to keep them bouncing along into Sunday morning.
Sunday 20 August - Abode at Sankeys
Line Up: Alex Arnout, Derrick Carter, Leftwing and Cody, Rob Cockerton, Ellie Cocks, GW Harrison, Jimmy Switch, Lindsay Matthews, Will Taylor.
Abode may well be one of the biggest Ibiza success story of 2017. It's a no brainer this week for us, booking master selector and all round party destroyer Derrick Carter. Round that off with One Records' ever excellent Alex Arnout and the might of Sankeys sound system and you have the Ibiza Voice pick for Sunday. Win.
