Can The BPM Festival recreate the magic of Playa Del Carmen in Europe? We're tipping them for great things.
The BPM Festival are already famous for conquering Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. Next up for the crew is their first jaunt to Europe. The four day BPM Festival: Portugal will be held at multiple venues in the Portugese municipality of Portimão from the 14-17 September.
30,000 people will descend on Portimão for the brand's blueprint beach club raving experience. There will be a 24hour music policy and artists such as Richie Hawtin, Jamie Jones, Dubfire, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice and Carl Craig will all play across the four day fiesta.
Portimão beach clubs NoSoloAgua and Blanco Beach have also been announced to host parties as well as a venue in Lagoa, Centro de Congressos do Arade. The daily beach parties will welcome an array of takeovers including Stereo Productions and Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream on the beach.
On the nearby beach NoSoloÁgua, Ibiza Voice will host Brazil’s infamous Warung brand and throughout the city clubs will be taken over by various crews; Hector's Vatos Lacos, Paradise and Deep House Amsterdam are all due at BPM this year.
BPM's first festival was back in 2008 and it has become an essential date in the dance music calendar. After starting out as a post New Year's meet up for music industry professionals, BPM evolved into a globally celebrated event.
For ravers in the UK however, the cost of a flight to Mexico has always made it one for only the most dedicated of techno tourists. A move to Portugal should put the party well within reach for all those who have until now missed out on the fun.
