Motion returns to Bristol every September and provides 12 weeks of cutting edge underground parties in a special venue which has been expanded and adapted each year to host the Motion sessions.
Both Motion and its sister imprint In:Motion will celebrate their 11th anniversary this year. Previous parties have seen plenty of action in the much loved skate park area of the venue, Motion will also open the marble factory area of the warehouse space this year.
The vast and unique site consists of three large warehouse spaces which hold five rooms. The first contains the legendary skate park, the second is the new marble factory and the third will be the main room, also featuring a cave and a tunnel. There are also three outdoor spaces that host one-off summer parties; the crane yard, the container yard and the lock yard also reside in the huge site. This year, Motions winter parties start on 29 September and run until New Years Day, featuring takeovers from Drumcode, Percolate and comedy crew, Kurupt FM.
Look out for their legendary Christmas and New Year plans which will be announced later this month. Paul Kalkbrenner will also be dropping in with a special all night long show as part of his World Tour.
Motion's seasonal approach to programming has a similar feel to The Warehouse Project in Manchester and its winter series in the UK have attracted a succession of heavyweight DJs and big name crews to Bristol. The knock on effect has returned the city's status as a mecca for clubbing to that similar to it's raving hey day in the 1990s when dancers from all over the region would congregate in the city for legendary clubs like Lakota.
