Severino from Horse Meat Disco reveals their biggest tracks from Glitterbox at Hï Ibiza.

Horse Meat Disco played Hï Ibiza on Friday September 22 for their summer residency at Glitterbox. "Glitterbox always delivers in September! It has a great mix of people," says Severino. "I spotted quite a few different kinds of ages, which is great as it means there are still people wanting to go out and party in a happy vibe."

Ibiza Voice: Opening track?

Severino: The Dimitri from Brooklyn edit of ‘Long Train Running’ on Razor-N-Tape is always a winner. It’s a sing-a-long song too. The track was originally recorded by the Doobie Brothers in 1973 with a Hispanic feel and was an original Ibiza classic.

Biggest track of your set?

This is a Mighty Mouse edit of Patti La Belle ‘The Spirit's In It’. So big and perfect for a big room, which makes it perfect for Glitterbox at Hï or Ministry of Sound.

Tune you couldn't wait to play?

It’s a great new funky, housey number from a four track EP by Italian Fabrizio Mammarella and Phillip Lauer. This is sexy.

Curveball track?

The most surprising track I played was the Mighty Mouse edit of Abba ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’. It starts with a long build intro but after three minutes the keyboard riff comes in and they go mental.

Classic?

It has to be ‘Strings Of Life,’ but the Danny Krivit edit of the Soul Central version. Those strings are BIG man.

Track you weren't sure might work but paid off in the end?

I thought it’s a great classic but maybe not so many people know it now? Except it appears they actually do know it!

Vocal?

So into this classic from 2013. Sandy Rivera again. It’s so good. A beautiful track with plaintive vocals in a classic disco flavoured, house groove. Timeless.

Last track?

The power of those drums and keys. The breaks are perfect too. And it’s got that Spanish flavour. So good.

The Glitterbox closing party at Hï Ibiza is on September 29 with Louie Vega, Dimitri From Paris, Roger Sanchez, Session Victim, a live PA from Barbara Tucker, Melon Bomb, DJ Pippi, and Simon Dunmore, who’ll be spinning tracks from the upcoming Glitterbox compilation, Disco’s Revenge, also released on 29th September.
