Some of dance music's finest live artists are assembling in Amsterdam for ADE week - make sure you're down the front for these highlights.
Underworld at Rijksmuseum - October 20
Underworld have been headlining the biggest techno events for as long as most of us can remember. The UK band are the keynote stars of this year's ADE and deliver a talk on Wednesday before playing easily the biggest gig of the whole week on Friday. It adds another impressive scalp to a big year for the band who were nominated for a Grammy earlier this year.
The venue here is just as impressive. The historic and cavernous bicycle passage that runs through the Rijkmuseum is one of Amsterdam's architectural highlights and is easily one of the city's most awe striking venues.

British Synthpop legend Gary Numan has pioneered live electronic music ever since his 1979 synth hit ‘Cars’. "I live a normal life... but in a castle with a swimming pool and a 20ft bronze dragon in the garden," he memorably told the UK's Telegraph recently. His live shows are as extravagant as his house keeping costs. And he's one of the few artists in the electronic scene whose concert appeal combines 80s singalong tracks and still cool music. So don't dare file him under 'novelty has been.' His latest album ‘Savage’ was released last month and he is very much an artist whose fire is still burning bright.

As far as techno overlords go, Speedy J and Surgeon still reign supreme even after 30 years in the business. While plenty of their contemporaries went for the mainstream 'plastic techno market' these two are still keeping it real with hard, underground techno. The pair will take over the NDSM Warehouse to premiere their combined live show ‘Multiples’ from 4.30am until 7am. This will be an expertly curated and first ever live collaboration for the pair, so one can only speculate at the spontaneous modular genius awaiting whoever is lucky enough to capture their sunrise show at the Docklands.

One of dance music’s most exciting live artists, KiNK, has been showcasing his new techno live show Cyrillic for the best part of the year. Videos of the Bulgarian performer have been sweeping the internet, ramping up his reputation for crowd interaction and live performance charisma. This eye catching set will go down at the visually phenomenal Gashouder. Techno legend Robert Hood and hot, new act Lady Starlight will be playing live shows on the night, too. Spoiled.

The current trend of orchestral adaptations of dance music continues to fascinate crowds and lure the greats. Carl Craig presents his Versus Synthesiser Ensemble is the next stop for this trend and the show will consist of six musicians who will adapt Carl’s best techno tracks into symphonic versions. Rather than a traditional orchestra however the sounds will be played by synthesizers with his long time collaborator Francesco Tristano on piano. The venue is a 15th century church, so for fans of the classical crossover experience, this is a must.

Iconic Dutch record store Rush Hour team up with Shelter to present one of the hottest sell-out events of ADE so far. Japanese deep house royalty and classic video game music producer Soichi Terada will bring his live show to the intimate club, after gaining a new fanbase for his 'Sounds from the Far East' re-release on the Rush Hour label. Prepare for an energetic live show, drenched in warm hardware sounds from the 80s and 90s.

After writing what can easily be prematurely declared one of the tracks of the year, ‘Glue,' many ADE ravers will be rallying around Bicep and their live show at Paradiso.
In addition to their colossal record collections and skills on the decks, the Bicep Live show is proving to be another string to their formidable bow. This extended live show is sure to feature lots of tracks from their newly released album on Ninja Tune.
