San Francisco's Avalon Emerson turns in a mesmerising two tracker for the next Whities.
The London based Whities has become a watchword for cutting edge, electronic music. An offshoot of another offshoot, Young Turks, that used to be owned by XL Recordings, and is also home to acts like The xx or FK Twigs, Whities was also recently name checked in an Ibiza Voice review by Roman Flügel as being one of the German producer's favourite labels. And so the San Francisco hailing, and now Berlin residing Avalon Emerson finds herself once again keeping impeccable company with her second release for the label. 013 comprises two tracks of modern, intelligently synthesized techno.
'One More Fluorescent Rush's sequencer workout is brashly, melodic and laden with effervescent energy and expertly deployed tension and release. 'Finally Some Common Ground' is the more abstract of the pair. Developing from a percussive beginning with a melody that boils over with positivity and out of key charm.
Ibiza Voice Score: 7/10
