From Helena Hauff at Tresor to Klock and crew at Berghain, there are marathon sessions and top knotch headliners in every direction this New Year's Eve and Day in Berlin. To help you narrow down your extensive list of rave options, we select our top six parties to choose from.
Even if you’re a regular in Berlin, the initial suspense of trying to get into Berghain adds a whole extra dimension to New Year's proceedings, should you find yourself finally checking in your coat excitedly after braving the gamut of the world's most difficult door. The super long marathon party will start 24 hours before New Year, coinciding with the weekly Klubnacht party proceedings. The Lab.Oratory, Panorama Bar, the Salon and Berghain's main room will all be open throughout the four day party, which will finish on Tuesday noon. The experience of this monstrous club and whichever rabbit hole in its maze-like layout you choose to dive down, is still unsurpassed. Residents nd_baumecker, Ben Klock and Marcell Dettmann will all be paying a visit, alongside regulars Efdemin, DVS1, Boris and Norman Nodge, as well as some fresher bookings like The Black Madonna, Nathan Fake and Mykki Blanco.

After his mind blowing Kern Volume 4 compilation for Tresor in July, DJ Stingray will be back at the club to see in 2018 alongside contemporary techno leading ladies, Hamburg's Helena Hauff and Detroit's Erika. Globus takes a disctinctly U.S. techno feel, headed up by Mike Servito and Derek Plaslaiko. Tresor is Berlin's original techno club and one of the first to provide a carefree and rebellious escape for the city's east Berlin dance music fans, once the wall came down. Anyone who has experienced the distinct rumble of the basement and its infamous caged DJ booth would no doubt sign a testament to this being one of the world's most legendary clubs.
Tresor NYE at Tresor, December 31, Köpenickerstrasse 70; Mitte; 10179 Berlin. For more information click here.
Lovers of well engineered and slick minimal house and techno can expect a monumental two day rave at the Libertine for New Year's Eve. Since opening recently, The Libertine is proving a hit with the most prominent minimal parties, frequently hosting the insanely hot Melliflow label and inviting artists like Yoshi and Spacetravel. Melliflow boss Vera will be joined by DJs like Evan Baggs, Nicola Kazimir, The Ghost and John Shima on live duties.
Libertine NYE Rave at Libertine, Holzmarktstraße 16, 10179 Berlin, Germany. For more information click here.
Funkhaus is fast becoming one of the city's best loved venues, thanks to pivotal parties like Perlon's Superlongevity’s 20th anniversary session in August. The mighty HYTE's 2016 New Year's Eve party seemingly broke some sort of online-hype world record, and the roving rave is back to make heads roll with one of the biggest line ups in Europe for 2018. From Alex & Digby to DeWalta and Bjarki, all the way though to regulars Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz and Loco Dice, you can rest assured HYTE have all basses covered.

In an otherwise inconspicuous alleyway along the River Spree sits Kater Blau, the rebirth of infamous party spot Kater Holzig and a descendant of the legendary Bar 25, the club that invented the boho Berlin rave. You can expect to find a packed out dance floor from Friday until Monday morning most weekends. For this 32 hour party, Cinthie, Gel Abril and Kater Blau’s own Mutlu will be spinning in one of four areas. It’s one of the best clubs to roam around and discover new areas, from Kater Kiosk to the carnival-esque garden (if you can handle the subzero temperatures) to the hidden ‘treehouse’ at the back of the lower level dance floor. Beat the crowds and experience a truly organic, Berlin party place.
Pille Palle at Kater Blau, January 1, Holzmarktstrasse 25, 10243 Berlin. For more information click here.
Anything that acts as the winter edition to Berlin's pride and joy, Club Der Visionaere is worth a visit. The rave boat opens at 1am on New Year's Day and caters for a more techno crowd to it's usual remit of avant garde minimal house and electro. Empire and Coco, who bossed last years New Years Day party, top the mostly local bill on the permanently docked boat for the 2018 installment. The only dance floor on MS Hoppetosse is religiously filled with the right people, and surrounded by a Martion sound system.
