Most years in Ibiza, we are told that this one will be the year of change, but the truth is that the movements are generally somewhat minor, and the main players remain the same. However, the first announcement of 2018 has proved to be a genuine jaw-dropper: following an industry-shaping 18 years at Amnesia, Cocoon has just announced that Pacha will be their new home this summer.
Sven Väth's renowned Ibiza parties will be switching to weekly Wednesdays at Pacha. The news was announced by Sven himself on social media and, as you would suspect, the reaction varies. At Ibiza Voice, we feel the change is a positive. Implicit in the word 'cocoon' is transformation and, after almost two decades in the same venue the time is right for metamorphosis and, all being well, positive change for this most iconic of parties. Watching the video and seeing the two Pacha cherries embedded amongst the Cocoon logo was quite a buzz.
Pacha, for the record, has been closed for refurbishment all winter, so his change sees the coming together of two massive institutions and we are intrigued for the next step.
Sven Väth's statement below:
Change is the only constant. Ibiza will never stop changing and nor will Cocoon. In 2018 Pacha will be our new home. A new Pacha. This is metamorphosis multiplied by 2 and I am so excited about this collision of visions. Lets turn this page and get on the dancefloor. Love Sven.”
More information on line-ups and events will be released shortly.
