It feels like gender equality in dance music is finally getting the attention it deserves. More remains to be done but it seems like words are finally being followed up with action.
To that end, a new Women in Dance Music Collective is to be launched at this year’s Brighton Music Conference.
Created with the aim of amplifying the visibility of women working in the industry—from the engineers to the artists—Women in Dance Music Collective will soon announce eight ambassadors having already established partnerships with She Said So, Women Produce Music, Keychange EU and AFEM.
As well appearing at the BMC—an invite-only event for meetings and networking—this new collective will host four other events round Europe.
The conference itself will also see appearances from the likes of Irvine Welsh, Eats Everything, Friction, Sam Divine “PRS For Music”, Fabric, SoundCloud, Virgin/EMI, Beatport and many more.
